We recently discovered this delightful new book for young children. It is a hard cover book with book jacket published in 2008. It is written by Leslie Helakoski and illustrated by Lee Harper. It tells the story of Woolbur the little sheep who likes to do things his own way - like carding his own wool, playing on the spinning wheel, and not following the flock. Woolbur's escapades takes the reader through the steps involved in processing wool. It is about 30 pages and each one is full of beautiful illustrations to delight any child - or adult.

Wool Rocks

These 'rocks' look amazingly like real rocks. They are actually made of wool and come in a variety of colors: natural (whitish); light, medium and dark grey; and rust. They are made by women in South Africa as a part of a job creation program that supports their independence. THese make great pin cushions!

There are 3 sizes of rocks:

small (2"-3") - $9.50/each

medium (approx. 4") - $13/each

large (approx. 6") - $17/each

There is one boulder in a medium grey measuring approx 12" x 10" x 6" - $250.

There is also the option of getting a sack of 5 rocks consisting of one large, one medium, and three small ones: Price $55.

Swedish Pattern Tracing Paper

This is sewable Swedish pattern tracing paper and it is durable (strong enough to sew on), see-through, and drapable. Once you have cut out your pattern, you can baste it together and try it on to check for fit before cutting your fabric. It can also be used to make a master pattern. The paper is sold in 30 foot rolls 29" wide for $12.00.

Eucalan is not only for washing wool but for all fine washables. It is non-toxic is 100% biodegradable. It contains lanolin which restores and conditions fibers and comes with either lavender, eucalyptus, grapefruit or unscented. All four are available in a 16.9 oz (500 ml) size for $11. each and 3.3 oz (100 ml) size for $4.
